National Center's Horace Cooper Debates NTSB Chairman Deborah Hersman About Proposed Driver Cell Phone Ban on DC's WAMU -- Listen Live!

National Center adjunct fellow and Project 21 spokesman Horace Cooper is doing media interviews at a rapid clip over his criticism of the National Transportation Safety Board recommendation that states enact prohibitions on all cell phone use by drivers (even if it’s hands-free).  On December 15, Horace is taking his case to the head of the NTSB, Deborah Hersman, as the two take part in a panel discussion at 10:00AM eastern on WAMU-Washington (88.5FM).

Joining Horace and Hersman will be host Diane Rehm, David Teater of the National Safety Council and Steven Yantis of the Psychological and Brain Sciences Department of Johns Hopkins University.

Regarding the ban, Horace said:

Yet again Washington, DC responds to the problems Americans face with heavy-handed solutions. Instead of solutions that are voluntary and rely on education and technology, Washington seeks out the hysterical approach of banning cell phone use outright — this is a solution whose time hasn’t come.
